| I was commissioned to draw a full body portrait
of this adorable little Shih-Tzu named Chucky. His favorite toy was a lime-green tennis ball, and his owner wanted it
shown in the portrait with him.
I start my portraits by
drawing the outline of the face, then filling in the basic shape and colors, as shown in
the first example.
In the second example
you'll see that the body was drawn in, and more details were added to the face including
white fur over the black muzzle area and shadowing to add depth. Also, more detail was
drawn in his eyes, bringing out his playful and spunky personality. More highlighting of the white fur
areas were also added in.
The third example
(finished portrait), I added more dimension to the body area, and drew in
his favorite lime-green
